For researchers at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), the old adage about getting to a man’s heart via his stomach might not be that far off base. It’s been established that the health of one’s gastrointestinal (GI) tract is directly related to overall health and a team of 12 researchers-dubbed the Gut Function Initiative-have assembled to find out why, and moreover, extrapolate the understanding into functional practices and products to help address obesity and various types of disease.
