On Tuesday 26th September, join us at the Royal Society of Medicine for an evening of presentations from inspirational thought leaders from the world of Functional Medicine. The presentations will be followed by a networking drinks reception.
Clinical Education is excited to partner with the Evolution of Medicine for our fourth International Functional Forum hosted at The Royal Society of Medicine, hosted by BBC One’s Doctor In The House- Dr. Rangan Chatterjee.
This episode’s key theme is Innovative Practice. The speakers will explore innovative ways that they are including Functional Medicine into their practices, both in and out of an NHS setting and what options are available.

Dr Rangan Chatterjee hosted two series of Doctor in the House on BBC1. This series looked at how an NHS GP could immerse himself with three families to guide them back to health using the principles and practices of functional medicine.

From trauma surgery in South Africa to Occupational Medicine and championing doctors’ wellbeing, Abeyna has carved out a diverse career for herself since graduating from Nottingham Medical School in 2006.
She is the founder of Medic Footprints; a popular enterprise and community for doctors exploring career opportunities beyond conventional paths which has attracted thousands of doctors to their events, courses and online resources.
As an NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Fellow she is an integral part of dynamic network of entrepreneurial doctors successfully innovating in their field whilst in clinical practice.
Her professional background includes NHS Leadership Academy alumnus, BBC Expert Voice, Huffington Post Blogger and Black British Business Awards Finalist.
Dr Elisabeth Philipps PhD
Elisabeth is a qualified nutritional therapist with a Nutritional Medicine BSc and AFMCP certification. Elisabeth previously completed a PhD in neuropharmacology at Oxford University and BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science at Kings College London. Her extensive scientific background has enabled her to develop a deep understanding of human anatomy, biochemistry, physiology and pharmacology, from which she draws on to support her deeply held philosophy of a holistic, systems-orientated approach to nutrition and health that underpins her teaching and practice.
Elisabeth has particular expertise and interest in the area of neurodegenerative and gastrointestinal health. She uses her extensive knowledge and the Functional Medicine model in her practice Hartwell Nutrition, and to date has successfully coached thousands of people to gain better health.
Elisabeth is an experienced speaker, researching, writing and delivering regular presentations on a variety of naturopathic nutrition and health topics for practitioner training, webinars, forums, conferences and corporate clients. She is passionate about promoting nutrition and health education and is regularly sought to provide expert opinion for the national press and specialist healthcare publications.
Dr John Briffa BSc (Hons) MB BS (Lond)
Dr John Briffa is a practising doctor, author and speaker. After graduating from University College London School of Medicine in London he developed a special interest holistic medicine and for more than 20 years has used nutritional and lifestyle strategies as major modalities.
Dr Briffa is a journalist and former columnist for the Daily Mail, the Observer and contributing editor at Men’s Health magazine. He is the author of 9 books, including the best-selling Waist Disposal and Escape the Diet Trap.
Dr Briffa also is the Director of specialised wellbeing and performance consultancy (drbriffawellness.com) which provides education and support to establishments and corporate entities including PwC, Deloitte, EY, HSBC, Boston Consulting Group, Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance, Advent International and Schroders.
